Like so many startups, Riverbend Malt House, a provider of locally farmed artisan malts to the craft brewing industry, started with almost no money, no physical assets and an incomplete business plan. But setting itself apart, Riverbend started as the only major player in its market (the east coast and southeast), has a team that can execute well, and timed its venture perfectly with the craft beer boom.

In under five years, the company is gearing up to at least double its production capacity to 1 million pounds of barley and ramp up to 10-12 employees later this year. And having landed Sierra Nevada as one of its clients, Riverbend is poised for massive growth.
