Just months after forming, Asheville Angels, a member-based angel investor network, just made its first investment of more than $100,000 into local startup Plum Print. Completing its successful seed round, Plum Print raised a total of $1 million from angel investors and venture capitalists, including the prestigious New York-based Brooklyn Bridge Ventures. Plum Print converts kids’ messy art piles into timeless coffee table books.
Plum Print co-founder Meg Ragland said the funding “will support the company’s expansion, which includes strengthening the technical aspects of the business, digitizing the artwork for parents and launching a major marketing campaign.”
Asheville Angels, which is nearing 30 members, seeks to grow its membership and funding activity. The group invests in startups and high-growth companies in Asheville and across the Southeast. “This deal marks a new chapter in the growth of Asheville’s entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said Josh Dorfman, Managing Director. “Asheville Angels offers investors the opportunity to energize the local economy while pursuing a strong return on investment by funding Asheville’s top entrepreneurs building world-class companies.”
