Mobile app startups took top prizes during pitch competitions held last week at the LEAD: Innovation Summit at Western Carolina University.
Paul Hedgecock, co-founder of UGoTour and a One Million Cups AVL organizer, won 1st place and $2,500 in the Bright Ideas Rocket Pitch competition for his travel and tourism app, which will soon feature the City Of Asheville’s Urban Trail. Ted Pate and Flori Pate, founders of Local Flavor, won 1st place and $2,500 in the “Promising Business Acceleration” competition. Second place went to App Garden University, a virtual tool that provides training for substitute teachers.
